Lane Lewis launched his campaign for Houston City Council District A on Thursday, before a crowd of his supporters at Rainbow Lodge. Lewis, an elementary school teacher, has served the City of Houston for the past two decades as a social worker, city advisor, and mayoral appointee.

“I’ve served Houston my entire life,” said Lewis. “I’m excited about my candidacy for Houston City Council District A and I look forward to working with District A residents to make our neighborhoods even better places to live.”

Lewis emphasized a reduction in crime, economic development, fiscal responsibility, smart investment in infrastructure and city services, and openness and accountability for his City Council office as key issues in his campaign.

“Listening is the cornerstone of my campaign for City Council,” Lewis said. “I look forward to meeting you, hearing your ideas and concerns, and discussing the issues, priorities, and values that we share as I campaign across the District in the months ahead.”
